Thoughts on Content
One phrase rules the economy of the internet. It's often quoted on marketing websites, in blogging books and by social media gurus. This sentence is attributed to one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates. It was the title of a 1996 article written by Gates—"Content is King." In his article, Gates espouses the two-part idea that people want quality content and that content producers eventually must make money. This can be seen in the proliferation of online advertising and pay walls.
I'm not suggesting that I'll be adding a pay wall or advertising to my blog. The point is much simpler. My readers want quality content. You want quality content. That is why you read blogs, visit website and search the web. And I want to provide that for you.
Over the past few weeks, I've been asking myself a few questions regarding my blog content: Is it any good? Who's my audience? Would I read it? Why are my topics so varied? How can it be improved?
These questions reveal that I'm not satisfied with the state of my blog. I know its still in its infancy, but there is so much that can be done to improve it. My hope is to continue to grow my writing skills by creating blog content that benefits others. If you're interested in helping me on this journey, please leave a comment below. I'd love to hear any advice, criticism, or suggestion.
