Change & Starbucks

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been in Houston for almost 3 weeks now. I have gone through a lot of change in the past weeks. Much of it I expected and tried to prepare for. But there is one little thing that I didn’t plan on—a new Starbucks. It may seem completely insignificant, but if you frequent a Starbucks, you know how it is. Once you’ve been going to the same one for a while, it becomes your Starbucks. The baristas greet you by name and know what you’re going to order. You feel comfortable asking the person beside you to watch your stuff while you visit the restroom, and you never get any work done because 17 people you know come in while you’re there. These are little things, but I miss them.

I now visit a new Starbucks. It’s right down the road from work and my apartment. It’s very nice. I get a lot of work done, and I’ve been able to meet new people. It will take a while, but I can’t wait to have a Starbucks I can call my own.
