My First Visit to Austin
Yesterday I took a day trip to Austin with a few coworkers. It was a quick trip, and with the rain, I wasn't able to take many good photographs. But here's a bit of what we did.
I took this photo out the car window while we drove through the University of Texas campus. It was fun to see where my friend William lived and studied while completing a computer science degree there.
The Texas Capitol building is only four blocks south of the University of Texas campus.
These stairs lead to the Senate and House balconies.
We ate lunch at a tasty pizza shop on South Congress called Home Slice Pizza.
Amy's Ice Cream is known as one of the best ice cream shops in Austin.
Fun Fact: The city of Austin's unofficial slogan is "Keep Austin Weird," and I grew up seeing a similar slogan on bumper stickers around my home town—"Keep Asheville Weird."
